Aprender is an organisation devoted to the sharing of best practice within the field of education. Our vision and ethos is to help develop teachers in Brazil to improve the life chances of young people. With better education, students are more able to move out of poverty and reject criminal and drug-related lifestyles. That’s got to be good news! Aprender also aids churches and schools in Brazil to work together.

It really is amazing what can happen when we step out in faith. Trips to Brazil have been both personally and professionally challenging but everyone involved have seen things change for the better as a result. It also really helps place things in context in our education system!  Schools have been very open, welcoming and keen to learn. One school visited was so excited they held an impromptu staff training meeting at the end of the day with about 40 teachers in attendance. “Don’t they need notice of a meeting?” we asked, “Don’t they have to make alternative arrangements?” We were assured this was not a problem and we could take as long as we wanted! When was the last time that happened in a UK school?!
