Visioneering

3 hour meeting today regarding future use of ICT in education. What is our vision? What affects our vision – our dreams? Does everyone visioneer in the same way, with the same framework? Probably not. What happens when a team of people are visioneering and most are not really visioneers? Its’ not a criticism but an observation. Some people simply don’t ‘get’ vision. It’s not their bag.

That’s fine because they will have other skills and experiences that will help, for example, the development phase of implementing that vision. But are we aware of how visionary we are? Would a truly visionary person know they are visionary? Can a lack of self-awareness interfere to that extent? I’ve been watching a team recently who are visioneering but don’t really have a strong visioneer in the group. It’s not a disaster, in fact far from it. But I wonder, because I haven’t asked, if they know they haven’t a strong visioneer among them? When is a visioneer not a visioneer? Some dream of bridges and tunnels, others of welding and mud. The essential nature of clear team dynamics becomes…… clear.
