Empowering Teachers | Inspiring Children | Transforming Communities

This is What We are About
Our Vision
Every child should receive a high-quality education which produces communities that flourish.

Our Mission
Aprender is an education systems strengthening organisation. We improve children's learning by building the capacity of governments, school leaders and teachers in the world's most under-resourced communities, equipping them with the coaching, tools and mindset to transform schools at scale, through a cascade that reaches ten million children in the decade ahead.
Together changes everything
Global Schools Forum
Aprender is a member of the Global Schools Forum (GSF), one of the world's leading networks for education organisations working in low- and middle-income countries. GSF brings together 224 organisations operating in more than 70 countries to share knowledge, foster collaboration and strengthen education systems.

Innovation, impact, and scale
Membership of the Global Schools Forum provides Aprender with access to one of the world's leading communities of education organisations. Through GSF, we collaborate with peer organisations, share and learn from international best practice, participate in research and professional learning, build strategic partnerships, and engage with funders and sector leaders.
The bigger picture too
UN and Us
Aprender's coaching-led cascade model delivers systemic, measurable progress against the Sustainable Development Goals in some of the world's most under-resourced education systems.
Working through government ministries, universities and locally-led partners, we build the leadership, teaching quality and institutional capacity that helps turn national SDG commitments into classroom realities.

End Poverty
Aprender works exclusively in low- and middle-income countries where educational disadvantage compounds economic disadvantage. By strengthening teaching in government schools across Uganda, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Nepal and Lebanon, we help ensure children in the poorest communities receive an education that opens real economic pathways.
Quality Education
Quality education is Aprender's core purpose. Through the Apto Programmes, we equip school leaders and teachers to deliver high-quality learning in resource-constrained settings. Independently validated by MBA students from Cambridge University Judge Business School in 2026, our cascade model delivers coaching at £42 per day — around a tenth of UK benchmarks.

Gender Equality
Aprender is committed to gender equality in the classrooms we serve and the leadership we develop. We deliberately equip school leaders and teachers to create classrooms where girls learn and progress on equal terms.
Economic Growth
Aprender invests in the professional dignity and progression of educators. Our in-country Apto Coaches are government or NGO education officers whose expertise is developed and applied, building durable public-sector capacity.
By raising the quality of teaching and leadership, we strengthen the human capital that underpins long-term economic growth.

Reduced Inequalities
Aprender exists to close the global learning gap. We work in countries where children face the steepest inequalities of opportunity, including refugee contexts such as Lebanon and cross-border communities. Our AptoBox offline learning platform ensures geography and connectivity do not determine access to high-quality professional development.
Justice
So often, children that need the best education to move out of poverty are disadvantaged by geography and low-quality training. That is not just. Strong education systems are strong institutions. Aprender's cascade model embeds capability inside national education ministries, training government or NGO officers as in-country Apto Coaches so improvements outlast any single grant. Our developing Stanford ELSRP collaboration equips teachers to support children affected by conflict, displacement and trauma.

Better Together
Aprender delivers exclusively through partnership, with government ministries and NGOs, academic institutions, and delivery partners such as Kids Alive International Zambia and Pursue Kenya.
As a member of the Global Schools Forum and Keeping Children Safe, we contribute to the collective expertise the global learning challenge demands.
